Leonor Fini (1907–1996) was an Argentine-Italian surrealist painter, designer, and illustrator. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and moved to Trieste, Italy, with her mother at a young age. She later moved to Milan and began her career as an artist.
Fini was part of the Surrealist movement and associated with many prominent artists of the time, including Salvador Dali and Max Ernst. However, she rejected the idea of being labelled as a surrealist and preferred to be known simply as an artist.
The common element between my work and Fini’s work, I presume, is the use of perspective, in most cases a single-vantage point perspective, which somehow has the extreme power of dragging the audience into the picture. in addition, the depiction of architecture and figures in her work is inspiring.
