Through his mastery of colour, unique composition, and imaginative narratives, LaChapelle began to expand the vernacular of photography. His staged tableau, portrait, and still-life works challenged the devices of traditional photography, and his work quickly gained international interest. ( Lachapelle, 2022)
A very good example of staged photography that does not need to be similar to Gregory Crewdson or Jeff Wall’s works What is intriguing to me about his staged photography is the use of colours and compositions. There are a lot of stories happening simultaneously, and there are an enormous amount of details in his work. I believe this is what keeps the spectator engaged with all of his work.
