Troy was born in rural Kansas in 1975 and currently lives in Topeka, Kansas. His work and research explore the delicate balance of family, fatherhood, and the outcome of the family photo album. Motivated by intellectual and psychological enquiry into these intimate topics, Troy photographs his own family as a means of understanding the emotional qualities that come along with fatherhood. It has become his means of understanding while creating an honest interpretation of the idealised family album. (Colby, 2022)
These are far away from what I am doing in my project, but! When I studied these photos thoroughly, I realised the expressions on the faces and intimidating feelings in these photographs are something I am trying to experience. My characters are asking for help from the spectator, yet their demon inside never lets them express that, so eventually, they become blunt, vacuous beings gazing at you. The harvesting feeling is my bargain from this exploration.
