The highly anticipated second season of Ethos is on its way to Netflix, continuing the powerful, multi-layered storytelling that made the first season a global success. Known for its deeply human narratives and its exploration of cultural, social, and psychological contrasts, Ethos returns with an even more refined visual and emotional language.
This new season builds upon the original’s strengths, intimate character studies woven into a broader reflection of society, while expanding its cinematic scope. The storytelling remains grounded and authentic, but visually, Season 2 reaches new heights, adopting a more sophisticated and nuanced colour palette to support its evolving themes.
Crafting the Look: Colour as Narrative
I’m proud to be working as the colourist on Season 2 of Ethos. Colour grading this project is not just a technical process; it’s a narrative tool. Each frame is carefully shaped to enhance emotional depth, define character perspectives, and subtly guide the audience’s experience.
From naturalistic skin tones to carefully controlled contrast and mood-driven palettes, the grading process is designed to preserve realism while elevating the storytelling. The goal is always to remain invisible yet impactful—allowing the audience to feel rather than notice the craft.
